Dom Joly's Olympics

In the run up to London 2012, comedian, writer, presenter and Olympic fan, Dom Joly will be exploring the most entertaining stories you never knew about the Olympics and how it’s changed over the last 100 or 1000 years.

In a dynamic, hands on and often subversive series, Dom will be looking at the Olympics from his perspective.
This means; re-creating his favourite sports ever, like pistol dueling and running in armour
Telling us all about the sports that he thinks should be re-instated like Tug-of-war.
Hitting the campaign trail to get support for new Olympic sports like crazy golf and Subbuteo.
Setting up in the garden shed to look at the unlikely stuff like waffle irons and washing machines that has inspired the best Olympic inventions.
Meeting the people behind some of the top secret innovations that are helping the 2012 sportsmen and women

He’ll be telling those stories and will be trying out old and new equipment and encouraging some of the sports stars of the modern era to see what they think. How will Darren Campbell cope with a 1920ʼs hand spiked running shoe? What about Ben Ainslie trying out the sailing boat that won Britain the 1936 Olympics. And what was the problem with the 2008 banned speedo-swimming suit?
