WW1 at Sea with Dan Snow

We’re looking into 3 potential Dive series with the team of the Commandant Fourcault, this is a 60 meter dive boat with all the kit based in Antwerp. I flew over there a few weeks ago and was blown away but what I saw. The boat is not just a dive boat but a base for creative characters to think of amazing adventures and limitless possibilities. If we can find a way to be a part of them we’ll make some great TV.
We have built a team that can deliver anything. Two of the best deep sea diving cameramen, a BAFTA award winning DOP, BAFTA award winning editor, double BAFTA award winning CGI team, a brilliant historian contributor and researcher and a director who has it all but a BAFTA (So far). All we need to do is make it happen. They’re coming and the potential is enormous.
Elsewhere we have two sport and fitness related ideas which is perfect for me and apparently a lot of the country. If the side effect of these two series is that I get fitter, harder, faster and longer then I’ll be happy.
Food is a major counter to that and we are working on 3 series on cooking, produce and entertaining. Trying to find out what has not been done and do things differently is the challenge. The main thing is that we have three major characters to work with and we just need to find that original format to make them work.
We’re also in contact with a charity called FAB, which can’t be a bad thing
5 ideas means a big month

We’ve been really busy and have some ideas that are so hot I can’t even discuss them on our news page. Quite unusual as normally I don’t care too much about what is said.
One thing I can say is congrats to Rob, our development guru, is congratulations on your new born. Joshua will keep you thinking about positive and karmic stories appropriate to your Buddhist beliefs.
I do like Rob’s career suicide idea, however, about an undercover expose about the commissioning process. It would make for a proper blog, I know that much and compelling online content for all TV frustrated producers.
We’ve been in with some great ideas recently and the stories we hear back are quite amazing.
We do have one that is on the desk of a commissioner that has enormous potential, we’ve been told two weeks to decide if the format fits. It’s going to be a long two weeks but then again we’ve just had a no after 9 months on a commissioners desk. That’s the idea not me, mind you it’s a new approach?

Recce done for three more cracking stories

We’re just back from Dorset and Devon and have found three new cracking stories. Two days, 500 miles and a surprising amount of lovely food and drink. But then again one place was a chocolate producer and another a brewery with a pub/restaurant, not sure where the dog school fits in with that though. Thanks for everyone’s generosity of time, we really appreciated it. Thanks also to Becks and John for putting us up. Next time we’ll try the Yurt!

It’s a really exciting project and gives us a chance to see up close some extraordinary people and get an insight into their lives and what makes them want to explore the last unknown parts of earth.

We’re about to start the journey of selling this which will be our Everest. They go in August so hopefully that deadline will get the commissioners in gear to make a quick call. I’d love to see their extraordinary adventure played out on air. For me it’s about the people and what drives them as much as any record and I think that’s what will ultimately bring in the audience. We shall see and I’ll keep you posted.
